Compression
Compression is one of the strokes for generating power inside a
cylinder. It follows the intake stroke.
For example, when the piston reaches bottom dead center on a
compression stroke in a gasoline engine, the intake valve
closes, and the air-fuel mixture is compressed when the piston
reaches top dead center.
This is followed by the exhaust stroke.
