CO2 (carbon dioxide)
CO2 (carbon dioxide) is generated through combustion of a substance containing carbon. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the amount of CO2 generated has increased dramatically due to the mass consumption of fossil fuels such as petroleum and the logging of tropical rainforests, which are sources for absorbing CO2. CO2 is also known as a greenhouse gas that causes global warming. Diesel engines, which consume less fuel, have lower emissions than gasoline engines.
