Combination splash force-feed system
A combination splash force-feed system, also referred to as
combination type, is a type of lubrication method which combines
a force-feed system with a splash lubricating system to perform
lubrication.
This type, normally used in engines such as water-cooled
horizontal diesel engines, force feeds oil to provide
lubrication to parts such as crankshaft journals, crank pins,
and rocker arms, while instead using a splash mechanism at areas
such as the crankshaft to provide lubrication to parts such as
pistons, camshaft journals, cams, and bushings at the small ends
of connecting rods.
