Governor
The governor automatically adjusts the fuel supply in response
to load fluctuations in order to maintain an appropriate engine
speed during acceleration and deceleration.
By doing so, it enables a constant engine speed to be
maintained, even when slight load fluctuations occur. Because a
constant engine speed enables the centrifugal force of the
flyweight and tension of the governor spring to be balanced, the
fuel injection quantity can also be kept constant.
For details, see "Mechanical governor" and
"Electronic governor."
