Oil filter

An oil filter is a component which removes impurities found inside engine oil. Over the course of its use, engine oil becomes contaminated with impurities such as metal particles due to wear, foreign materials, and carbon.
If oil containing such impurities is fed to parts subject to friction, they can cause wear to accelerate or seizing to occur. For this reason, an oil filter is used to remove such impurities.
Normally, types of oil filters include suction filters that are installed to the suction side of the oil pump and control filters that are installed to the discharge side of the oil pump or the return line. However, oil strainers are mainly used for the former, while cartridge oil filters are mainly used for the latter.
