Regeneration
Regeneration is one of the main processes of the DPF system and involves the removal of accumulated PM. Because PM accumulated in the DPF will eventually clog the pores, this process is performed to burn off any PM accumulated in the filter. This burning off converts PM into carbon dioxide gas, which is then passed through a filter and discharged from the exhaust system.
