Conventional wisdom holds that making this part square helps with engine durability, because it uses a lot of iron.

However, Kubota's engines had an inverted triangle for a face. Kubota's advanced casting technology allowed for designs that showed we could build rugged machines without relying on square shapes.

This focus is still carried today, in the high power density that distinguishes Kubota engines.
