Although VC was a breakthrough as the first two-cycle engine of its kind, it did not receive enthusiastic praise.

Because of the instability of its combustion, apparently users often had to clean it carefully after use. If not, they would find it unsuitable for use the next time.

Its appearance was almost identical to that of VC, but the VC2 had improved combustion.
